VOTE FOR THE PUSH 4 PEACE CONTEST WINNER

Description: In this piece I wanted to represent the vibrant street life of Long Beach; with its tall buildings, palm trees & the planes that any resident is familiar with. The animals who also find a home within the city are pigeons and cats, so I showed them as representatives of the city’s personality. Each with their own level of enthusiasm!

Title: Seas the Day

Description: Long Beach is a vibe. A fun, happy, colorful and bright city to live call home. I included all these elements as well as some notable landmarks (the lighthouse/ the ferris wheel at the pike). I chose a shark as the main character/focal point of this scene to pay homage to ELBEE ( the CSULB shark mascot).

Description:“Divided we fall” A female with both hands open over a presidential podium, with tape over her eyes. On the podium, in deep red spray paint, words that cover the seal read “Divided we fall”. I made this for the Humanity category. There’s a lot of politics that get in the way of ethics and basic human decency. So often humanity is wavered in the pursuit of something more ‘valuable’. This systemic repetition is what makes turning a blind eye the easier option, but this is precisely the time when we must unite. Engage in the conversation. Build the awareness.

Title: Pushin’ Peace

Description: Humanity could use Peace! And lots of it (especially nowadays)! The skating peace sign character is repeated in different colors to represent the diversity of our city (Long Beach, CA) and in the world as a whole. The warm gradient of colors in the background signify not only the beautiful sunsets seen on the horizons of the LBC shoreline, but the warm feelings inside ourselves when we experience our own inner peace and peace in the world outside ourselves.

Description: This shows the various communities and cultures on different blocks around the city— building blocks, if you will. This piece aims to show why Long Beach is so rich in culture. It’s because Long Beach is about embracing diversity and small business like no other. Long Beach forever!

Title: LB on the Block

Category: Long Beach

Description: I love the neo-term for locals of Long Beach so I thought I’d focus on that. It’s also a word that embodies the diversity and humanity of the The LBC.
